Co-Dependency

shutterstock_464120276Co-dependency can be characterized by behaviors such as: remaining in relationships that fail to meet your needs, controlling others or letting them control you, “people pleasing,” and care-taking others.  While often used to characterize romance, co-dependence can extend to work relationships and to those that we have with family and even friends. Therapeutic work includes understanding what drives co-dependency, and learning how to create healthy internal and external boundaries so that relationships can feel safe.  It can also include learning how to let go of unhealthy relationships and form new ones that are positive and fulfilling.
